Fraud Alert Archives - 2005

This alert page was only started recently, so there are not many alerts in this arcive right know. Unfortunately, It will nly take a short period of time before this archive grows to larger quantities. As mention on the previous page there is a site started by our webmaster, that gives brief examples of these "phish" and many others. Just check the date on the list below and search for it on his site. Hopefully through seeing many examples of known fake emails you can learn how and what they are looking for, and how to spot them effectively.

December 12'th, 2005 - FBI

We would like to inform our members that there is a fraudulent email circulating on the internet right now that claims to be from the FBI. This email contains an attachment that contains a variant of the Sober virus. We caution our members not to open this email, especially the attachment, and to delete it right away. December 5'th - CUNA Mutual

Monday, December 5: CUNA is aware of a new phishing scam generating multiple copies of a message asking to update your personal account. This is a Phishing scam - please delete these messages. CUNA will never solicit e-mails requesting your credit union username, password, pin number, or other personal identity information.

Moraine Valley

I have been notified today that many members at Moraine Valley Community College have been sent an email from Creidt Unions of the USA. This is another "phishing" scam directed towards credit union members. Please do not follow through on this link, or enter in any account information.
