Staying Safe Online
In an effort to help our members stay safe when surfing the Internet we have created this tutorial for members to read through. We have also gathered some links for you with more information about staying safe online.
The Fedreal Trade Commission has published a site, their ID Theft Prevention Site, in an effort to educate all US citizens about how to keep their ID secure. The National Credit Union Association has an Adobe Acrobat Reader document that gives a quick tutorial that can be downloaded, so any credit union member can get some tips to safely conduct financial transactions over the internet.
One of the latest scams to hit the Internet, and especially anyone's email is called phishing. Phishing is when soem criminal poses as a representative of an organization and then tries to solicit information from the user, that allows the criminal to steal their identity. Their website is located here. If you have recieved a suspicious email, that you think is a phishing attack, you can submit it to their website here.
